Maximal Fluctuation Exploitation in Information Ratchets

Synopsis

Recent technological advances have made realizations of the Maxwell Demon thought experiment, known colloquially as "information engines", possible. In this talk, I will present a conceptually simple "engine" which is driven entirely by ambient energetic fluctuations and is capable of storing this energy for later use. By simulating the dynamics of this system, we find that it is capable of extracting an order of magnitude more energy over previous designs and we find that it's performance is only limited by the physical parameters.
