From broken symmetries to bounds on current fluctuations
Feb 03, 2020 at 1:30PM in P8445.2
Synopsis
In this talk, I will discuss the link between broken symmetries, fluctuation theorems and thermodynamic uncertainty relations. In particular, I will show that currents induced by a broken isometric symmetry can be bound using a thermodynamic uncertainty relation. A similar bound exists for order parameters in equilibrium systems, such as the magnetization of an Ising model induced by an external field.
