Study of Quantum Materials Using Spin Polarized Muons
Aug 07, 2019 at 12PM
Synopsis
Muon spin relaxation/rotation (µSR) is an unique technique to investigate the details of the magnetic interactions in quantum materials. In this technique, nearly 100 % spin polarized muons implanted in the bulk of the sample and the subsequent precession and relaxation of the implanted muon spin gives the information about the magnetism in the sample. During the seminar, we will discuss the µSR technique and its different experimental configurations. Results of µSR studies on some quantum materials such as, unconventional superconductors and topological insulators will also be discussed.
