Electrostatic Graphene Loudspeaker
Sep 28, 2018 at 12PM
Synopsis
Graphene’s extremely low mass density and superb mechanical strength make it a suitable candidate for the vibrating membrane in less common electrostatically driven speakers. In their 2013[1] paper, Qin Zhou and A. Zettl detail their approach in the construction of the graphene speaker. This innovative speaker is straightforward in design and boasts excellent efficiency and high fidelity flat frequency response when compared to modern commercial-grade magnetic coil speakers.
