Synopsis
This year’s annual Poster Competition will be held on March 2nd, and you should participate!
- Registration Deadline: Friday, February 23, 2018 - Late submission may be accepted by contacting Dr. Bernd Stelzer: stelzer@sfu.ca
- Prize: 3 x cash awards of $100
Each research group must contribute at least one poster. The competition is open to graduate students, undergraduate students and post-docs who are undertaking supervised research.
Food and beverages will be provided.
Registration
If you would like to participate, please register by contacting Dr. Bernd Stelzer: stelzer@sfu.ca via email with the following information:
- Your name
- Your supervisor’s name
- Your research poster title
Poster details:
Posters should be in portrait format, size 48 x 36” (4x3’) (or alternatively ‘A0’ size). Due to space constraints at the event, horizontal / landscape posters will not be permitted.
Posters will be ranked based on the following criteria:
- novelty of the research (what is new and interesting?)
- clarity of the presentation (can we easily determine and understand the point?)
- attractive and accessible to a general audience
Other tips:
- Remember that the audience has 5 minutes (or less) for each poster;
- Choose the title carefully - something that gets to the heart of the work;
- Give us the objectives and goals;
- Fill the space on the board, but at a comfortable density;
- Cut out half the words in your original draft - use pictures/diagrams where feasible;
- Summarize the important points in a conclusion
- Don't forget the acknowledgements
Printing costs must be covered by the research group.
