From Catherine Dauvergne | Back on campus: what to expect for spring term

Our transition back to campus has required an enormous amount of energy and commitment from everyone in the SFU community over the past few months. Thank you for everything you have done to keep yourself and others safe. 

Of the more than 92% of SFU students, faculty and staff who submitted their SFU Vaccine Declarations, 97% reported that they were vaccinated. There have been cases in individuals on our campuses, however, since the fall term began, Public Health has not reported any transmission of COVID-19 on SFU campuses. This is due to our collective commitment to vaccinations, as well as to the safety measures in place.

As we return to normal in-person teaching, research and engagement activities in the spring term we will foster rich, in-person connections with students, colleagues and the community. 

Getting vaccinated is still the most important thing we can all do to protect ourselves and the community. If you haven’t done so yet, please complete your declaration and if you have been vaccinated, upload your proof of vaccination. Audits of the declarations submitted will be conducted over the coming weeks to validate accuracy of the data.

COVID-19 will be with us for the foreseeable future. To ensure the safety of our community, we will continue to implement layers of protection under direction of Public Health, pivot as needed in response to changes in the pandemic and keep the community informed of any changes along the way. 

We will provide more information in mid-December about what to expect in the spring term, when we anticipate that our return to campus will be complete. In the meantime, stay up to date on the latest health and safety measures on the Return To Campus website.
