Results
The resulting areas of the multi-criteria evaluation shows that the risk of a Fraser River flood dominates what is considered as the worst areas to live based on weather related events. The areas showing the most ideal locations seem to be a result of slopes facing towards the northeast causing a sheltering effect for very large storm events.
Focusing on only residential areas, it is clear that the most of Richmond is in the Fraser floodplain and that the North Shore expansion up the mountain is beginning to enter areas of high annual snow accumulation.
