Problems

The biggest problem associated with this analysis is related to the choice of weights for each of the factors used in the MCE (multicriteria evaluation). The weights were assigned more or less arbitrarily based on personal opinion of what factors were more important compared to others. The results of the analysis would be different depending on who was creating the map. In the case of this analysis, the weights were assigned with the idea in mind that the slope of the land and proximity to protected watersheds were slightly more important than distance from residential and commercial areas.

Another issue in this analysis is that there was no available DEM data from which to calculate the slopes on the island. Because it was necessary to generalize this information from a set of contour data, the slope information was not as accurate as it could be, thus producing some errors in the final result.
