The analysis identifies 5 distinct neighbourhoods that require more transit service. 3 of these are located in South Nanaimo, while the other two are located in North and North-West Nanaimo. All are located in the vicinity of low and medium transit service areas as expected. The map also shows the location of high density/multi family neighbourhoods to assess if there was any correlation between high density and transit demand neighbourhoods. There appears to be some relation, as transit demand neighbourhoods are in the proximity of or are overlaid by high density clustering.
Existence of high demand is normally supported by transit demands, but this analysis shows there is inadequate level of service in some of these neighbourhoods. A possible solution to this problem is increasing the frequencies of bus routes that have the inadequate levels of service.
