Each year, SFU and the Alumni Association honour its most accomplished graduates with Outstanding Alumni Awards. According to the association, nominations are made by alumni, faculty, staff, students and SFU's many friends in the community.

This year, three alumni from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are being honoured. They are Norman Armour (BA ’87), Mae Burrows (BA ’72, MA ’96), andAlan Rugman (PhD ’75). The fourth recipient is Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu. Alumni and guests are invited to attend the dinner and awards event on February 10 to honour the winners. Register online by Wednesday, February 2.
