Mini-Manuscript Consultation with Evelyn Lau
We are pleased to offer creative writers an opportunity to meet with Evelyn Lau, critically acclaimed author and former Vancouver Poet Laureate, for a manuscript assessment. You are welcome to submit a maximum of 15 double-spaced pages to Lau, who has written poetry, non-fiction and fiction.
Lau will read your manuscript before your 50-minute meeting. At the meeting, she may provide you with suggestions about editing, how to publish your work, and how to work with editors and publishers. She may also ask questions about your writing life.
Please Note: We must receive your 15-page manuscript at least two weeks before the meeting date.

Consult Dates
Consults usually take place on the last Monday of every month (unless otherwise noted) with slots available at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., or 6 p.m. (Pacific Time). After registering for the consult, you will receive an email asking you to complete an online form to select your meeting date and time.
Formatting your manuscript
- Your manuscript should be provided in the following format:
- Maximum length: 15 pages
- Title of your work(s), if it has one, at the top centre
- Your name, at the bottom centre
- Page numbers on the bottom right
- Double-spaced, 10- or 12-point font (poetry should be single-spaced)
