THE INAUGURAL MONTHLY UPDATE
Thank you for reading the first monthly update about the First Peoples' Gathering House (FPGH). SFU is working to improve communication with Indigenous students, staff and faculty and hope these updates will provide you with relevant information about this project.
We encourage you to forward this update to anyone you think would be interested and encourage them to sign up for the monthly updates.
Please email Communications & Marketing if you have feedback or questions regarding these updates.
NEW USERS COMMITTEE
A Users Committee is being struck for the First Peoples’ Gathering House to ensure all groups using the facility will have input. The First Nations Student Association (FNSA) will be invited to participate by providing a representative. Further information about this new committee can be found in the student townhall Q&A.
ISC TO JOIN THE BUILDING COMMITTEE
Thanks to a suggestion made by the First Nations Student Association, a lead staff member from the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) has been invited to sit on the FPGH Building Committee. Moving forward, Kaylena Ryan, the ISC’s Indigenous Student Life Coordinator, will be participating in the committee. The entire committee makeup is on the FPGH website.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Ongoing efforts over the past few months to solicit a qualified construction management firm through a public competitive procurement process is coming to its final stages. The successful proponent will be announced soon once the team is officially on board.

The townhall sessions have been scheduled for the following dates in March. Meeting details and advanced reading materials will be posted on the FPGH website.
