Coast Salish Drumming/Singing Workshops
SFU's Vancity Office of Community Engagement presents the following free Coast Salish Drumming and Singing workshops:
These workshops are free and open to the public on a drop-in basis. Workshops are cancelled due to COVID-19.
Instructor Biography:
Russell Wallace is a board member for the Warriors Against Violence Society. He is a composer, producer and is a traditional Lil’wat singer. Wallace’s music has been part of a number of film, video, and television soundtracks and theatre/dance productions. He was the composer in residence for the Chinook Winds Aboriginal Dance Program from 1996-2003 at the Banff Centre for the Arts. He has produced CD’s that have been nominated for awards at the Junos, Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, and at the Native American Music Awards in the USA. Currently Wallace works and teaches at the Native Education College and works with SFU's VanCity Office of Community Engagement in presenting the Drumming and Singing workshops.
