AEM Author Performance Issues
Starting in early October, we had periodic and recurring performance issues with the AEM Content Management System authoring environment (https://author.sfu.ca). As of November 7th, we are confident that we have addressed the root causes of several independent issues, and the system is once again stable and performing well.
While there are still a few minor issues that we continue to track, we believe those to mostly affect AEM system support staff and not significantly affecting daily authoring tasks. In the near future we have several systems changes that will further approve features, stability, and performance.
Below is the history of updates that tracked the mitigation of the October 2017 performance issue, for reference.

Background and Mitigations
In some cases, you can improve page-editing performance in AEM by disabling the Content Finder for your editing session for a particular page. You can find out about that option as well as a more technical detail on the issues on the Background and Mitigations Page
