Designing in AEM
With the AEM Content Management System, you can quickly and easily begin designing professional websites without touching the underlying markup. However, those who come to the CMS armed with markup and stylesheet experience will find plenty of opportunities to customize and fine-tune their website.
Out-of-the-box, AEM is delivered with a number of layout and formatting tools, as well as a suite of components that can help web designers achieve a polished online presence. For those who come armed with HTML, CSS or JavaScript experience, AEM allows you to fine-tune your sites using source code view in the Text component, loading site-specific style sheets, and creating customized scripts for dynamic content.
Where do I start?
If you are new to AEM, you should take some time to familiarize yourself with its basic functionality. Be sure to read through the documentation in the AEM Authoring How To's section. Before you begin loading your custom stylesheets and scripts, get to know the kinds of components available in AEM. See our list of custom component styles that are available to all authors.
