SFU Board of Governors 2025 Meeting Schedule

Listed below are the dates for the meetings of the Board of Governors and the submission dates for receipt of materials. Board meetings are usually held on Thursdays. Unless otherwise noted the Board Committees will normally meet one week prior to the Board meeting. The Committees listed in the schedule below are as follows:

• Governance, Risk and Compliance Committee (GRCC)  
  
• Audit Committee (AC) 
• Finance, Investments and Property Committee (FIPC)
  
• Executive Committee (EC) 
  
• Ad-hoc Committee (AHC) meetings are held where required 

As we prepare for our full-year proceedings, it is our commitment to do so in line with SFU’s core value of engagement and openness. To further embed SFU's values in our governance systems, we will be offering our open Board meetings in a hybrid format which will include opportunities for involvement in-person and online. These meetings are convened to ensure the business and operational continuity of the university and it is important that the Board can conduct its public business in a way that fulfills its mandate. 

Members of the public may be invited to participate in open meetings if they have submitted an agenda item that is approved, they have been identified as a resource to the topic, or they have been approved to speak to an agenda item. Additional space in the gallery at open meetings will be reserved for members of the public who wish to observe the Board’s operations. We ask anyone wishing to attend in person complete a registration request form and to read and respect our Guidelines for Attendees. Please note that registration opens two weeks before the meeting date and closes 48 hours before the meeting for in-person attendance requests. For requests to attend virtually, the registration will close 24 hours before the meeting. 

These changes will ensure the community can witness the Board’s business in an open, transparent and public format while ensuring they are inclusive, safe and respectful for all.

The Board of Governors supports the fundamental right of academic freedom and peaceful protests and reminds our community of our policies including SFU policy S10.05 (Student Conduct), GP47 (Bullying and Harassment) and GP25 (Response to Violence and Threatening Behaviour) that govern conduct at these meetings.
