An interactive experience to learn about the exciting student life in French at SFU

Tune in with your class or school to this 60-minute live interactive French show highlighting post-secondary student life in French in a captivating way! This event takes place on April 24 - National French Immersion Day - from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
Hosted online, streamer Lionnely will meet with four SFU students and one alumnus to talk about their inspiring journeys studying in French and their experiences on campus.
Program Segments
- Discussion between students and the host around what brought them to pursue their studies in French, how they developed and maintained connections with the Francophonie, and what kind of opportunities learning French (and in French) in high school gave them.
- Half-time - 3-minute "Success Story" with Yann Lacoste, journalist and SFU Alumnus, talking about his bilingual career in BC.
- Short video "A day in the life of an SFU student"
- Entertainment, games and Franco-Fun challenge contest (prize to be won!)
Format and duration
- Wednesday, April 24, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
- Interactive virtual format that engages with your students. They will be able to ask their questions live in the chat room, which will be monitored by the host
- Free activity lasting a total of 60 minutes
- Registration is required to receive teaching material and a login link
This activity is perfect for students in:
- Grades 8 and 9 to stimulate retention in the French immersion, Core French or Francophone program
- Grade 10 as part of their Career Education course and to help them plan their course choice for Grade 11
- Grades 11 and 12 to prepare them for the transition to post-secondary education
