Simon Fraser University Sets Another first by Switching to Fair Trade Bananas
Simon Fraser University is the first campus in B.C. to offer Fairtrade certified bananas in its dining venues, and is currently one of only two Universities in Canada to do so this fall. SFU was designated a Fair Trade Campus by Fairtrade Canada in 2012 and was named Canada's first Fair Trade Campus of the Year in 2014.
SFU continues to increase its commitment to provide Fairtrade certified options to students, faculty, and visitors on campus, and bananas is another in a list that includes coffee, teas and chocolate. By promoting fair trade products in its dining venues, SFU is not only educating its students, it is helping to improve the lives of farmers and their families in developing countries.
