What is a highlight of your career so far?
Completing my Executive MBA and then taking the leap to start my own business has been a defining moment. Helping real people improve their businesses is incredibly rewarding, and my clients have been the highlight of my journey so far.
Why did you choose to get involved with SFU in this way?
My children are now at university age, and I want to model being a part of a community that provides opportunities for academic learning, as well as personal and professional growth. I’m very thankful for the years I spent at SFU, and want to give back in a way that creates meaningful impact.
What are the benefits of staying connected to your alma mater, especially at this stage of your career and life?
Some of the best years of my life were at SFU. My time here inspired a complete career transformation: from working as a personal trainer to earning an Executive MBA and starting my own business. I want to advocate for lifelong learning and show others how education can help you achieve the life you want.
What advice would you give to current students nearing graduation or recent graduates?
Pursue the path and seize opportunities that make you feel most alive. Work takes up a huge part of life so make sure you find a way to enjoy what you are doing and understand when it no longer serves you. Your career will evolve, and that’s okay. Never be afraid to reinvent yourself and keep learning.
