AI in mental health: empowering autistic youth with decreased sound tolerance

The TD Ready Commitment has awarded a $500,000 grant to the Kids Brain Health Foundation (KBHF) to develop an AI app for youth with sound sensitivity.

Led by mechatronic systems engineering professor Siamak Arzanpour and associate professor from the Faculty of Education, Elina Birmingham, this app will use advanced AI algorithms to detect and filter distressing sounds, allowing youth to engage in daily activities without noise distractions.
