Help empower entrepreneurs and small business owners in your community!

Held annually in Surrey, the DIVERSEcity Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair, presented by TD Bank, helps diverse entrepreneurs get the knowledge and tools they need to plan, launch and grow their own business in Canada. The Fair is taking place in-person again this year – before the pandemic, this event saw great success with nearly 300 attendees, 30+ exhibitors, five inspirational speakers and more!

Help take this event to the next level by joining a small committee of Event Coordinators and organizing the Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair!

Virtually on: 

Wednesdays 

4:00 to 6:00 pm

AND

In-person on:

Oct 17 or 23 or 24 (TBD), 2024

2:30 to 8:30 pm

Your Role:

As an Event Coordinator in the fair planning committee, you will be joining an amazing team of kind, supportive and creative individuals who share your passion for bringing ideas to life and creating successful events! Your responsibilities will include attending weekly brainstorming meetings via Zoom and collaborating with team members to plan and promote the Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair which will take place mid-October 2024.

In this role, you will: 

  • Work with the rest of the event planning committee to design and implement the Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair;
  • Apply interpersonal, empathy and relationship-building skills by developing healthy relationships with team members;
  • Acquire volunteer skills for community involvement;
  • Assist with creation of content for social media, including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter;
  • Assist with contacting speaker and sponsors for the event;
  • Attend the Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair to support the trade show, communicate with entrepreneurs, help with setup and takedown etc.

Timeframe:

Event Coordinators will meet virtually, once a week:

  • On Wednesdays, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • From September 18, 2024 – October 24, 2024

You can also expect to spend around 1 to 2 hours a week working on various event planning related tasks, in your own time. 

Event Coordinators must also be available to attend the in-person even on October 17th, 23rd or 24th (date TBD) from 2:30pm-8:30pm. 

Location:

  • Weekly planning team meetings: Virtually via Zoom or Teams
  • Event: Surrey City Hall (13450 104 Avenue, Surrey, BC)

Volunteer Training:

  • Will be held virtually on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 | from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

  • Be able to collaborate and work well in a team as well as independently.
  • Be enthusiastic, patient, creative and committed;
  • Enjoy working in a group setting;
  • Be eager to share your ideas and solutions;
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills;
  • Be dependable, flexible and resourceful.
