Hierarchy | Tasks |
The task of this tutorial is to use the model
provided with the tutorial to create a hierarchical composition that can
be understood as both a design for a brooch and a design for a small city.
The object provided is a 1km x 1km city, surrounded by a 1/2km band of parkland, with "roads" accessing the city and a river running through it. You are to change the model to build a hierarchical city by adding building massings and other objects. It should contain zones for commercial, institutional and residential areas. We have provided some oversize elements to work with for buildings of each of these three types. The elements are oversize as the tutorial time is too short to deal with the many elements that would be required otherwise. Your model should also be suitable as a design for a brooch. You should ask yourself if there are differences between elements and designs appropriate for cities and those appropriate for small items of jewellery like brooches. |
