Large-scale Flexible Assembly Optimization

This project aims at searching for the optimal assembly process including positions for locators and clamps for best auto body assembly quality. The assembly quality analysis is a complex high-dimensional, expensive, black-box (HEB) problem. Our in-house developed optimization tools can efficiently identify the optimum for problems of 30-100 variables.

Developed a Design for Production (DFP) methodology and applied it to the instrument panel display for agricultural vehicles.
