Mountainside
--an observational documentary about Mountainside Animal Hospital
Project Concept
The final project of the course IAT 344 Moving Images is a short documentary based on a topic chosen by our group to illustrate our skills of technology, narrative and working with a client. Our topic is to create an observational documentary which showcases the operations of Mountainside Animal Hospital in North Vancouver. Overall, we wish to showcase the ways in which this animal hospital differs from other animal hospitals around the lower mainland. We also wish to highlight to the audience the importance of supporting locally run animal hospitals as opposed to some animal hospitals which are American-run, but camouflaging as Canadian organizations. Additionally, we wish to provide a promotional piece of media for the organization for their website which is currently being rebuilt.
The editing was iterative in order to meet interviewees’ requirement, I mainly use the video editing software Adobe Premiere to create the narrative with my teammate .
Challenge and Reflection
Since there are only have three people in the project group, so we actually met a lot of challenges during the process, from conducting the interviewees at the beginging to shooting and editing at the post-production process. Gladly we encountered all the challenges with our strong team.
