Summer term deadlines

  • Summer term courses start May 7, 2018; last day of exams is August 16.
  • Intersession courses start May 7, 2018; last day of exams is June 25.
  • Summer session courses start June 26, 2018; last day of exams is August 16.

Enrollment appointments begin online March 5; open enrollment begins March 26.

Classes: add/swap/change tutorial

May 13 (Sunday) Last day to add classes, swap classes, change tutorials on go.sfu.ca.
May 20 (Sunday) Last day to enroll for class challenge or switch your challenge from one class to another or regular enrollment in a class, with permission of the department. (You can’t withdraw from class challenge without substituting a regular class.)
May 27 (Sunday)
Last day to add classes through the department, with permission of the chair and instructor. Last day to change tutorials through the department. Last day to change a class to audit status.

May 13 (Sunday) Last day to completely withdraw from all classes with no notation on your academic record.
May 20 (Sunday)
Last day to drop a class using go.sfu.ca, without a withdrawal notation of “WD” for the course on your academic record. If withdrawing from all classes, a withdrawal notation of “Withdrew YYYY-MM-DD” will be added to your academic record. 
June 10 (Sunday)
Last day to drop a class using go.sfu.ca, with a withdrawal notation (WD) on your academic record.
June 11 (Monday)
Classes may be dropped in the current term only under extenuating circumstances (WE). www.sfu.ca/students/appeals/withdrawals.html

Fees: payment and refunds/penalties

Payment
May 18 (Friday) Deadline to pay tuition and student fees for any combination of Summer term, Summer session and Intersession. A 2% late fee penalty will be assessed after the due date and on the first of each month thereafter. 
June 22 (Friday) Deadline to pay Co-op Practicum fees.

Refunds/penalties for Summer term
(see below for Intersession and Summer session deadlines)
May 13 (Sunday) Last day for 100% refund of tuition.
May 20 (Sunday) Last day for 75% refund of tuition. Last day for refund of student fees (Student Services, Recreation-Athletics and Student Activity). A 2% late fee penalty will be assessed after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter.
May 27 (Sunday) Last day for 50% refund of tuition. No refund of student fees. A 2% late fee penalty will be assessed after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter.
May 28 (Monday) No refund for courses dropped.  A 2% late fee penalty will be assessed after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter. 
June 22 after 10:00 am, and every month thereafter If you have not enrolled in direct deposit, refund cheques requested for overpayment (which are not related to scholarships and bursaries*) are available for pickup at Burnaby campus, unless payment has been made by personal cheque (which requires a 45 day clearance period).

Graduation application/cancellation

May 7 (Monday) Deadline to cancel application to graduate in June 2018 convocation ceremonies, if you are completing degree requirements in the Spring 2018 term.
June 15 (Friday) Early deadline to apply and pay for the early application fee on go.sfu.ca for graduation in October 2018 convocation ceremonies, if you are completing degree requirements in the Summer 2018 term. Note that the graduation fee will be charged for each degree, diploma and certificate for which you are applying.
August 10 (Friday) Final deadline to apply and pay for the regular application fee on go.sfu.ca for graduation in October 2018 convocation ceremonies, if you are completing degree requirements in the Summer 2018 term. Note that the graduation fee will be charged for each degree, diploma and certificate for which you are applying.
September 4 (Tuesday) Deadline to cancel application to graduate in October 2018 convocation ceremonies, if you are completing degree requirements in the Summer 2018 term.
