A sports fan and a geek first, Alon is a follower of almost any type of sport from basketball and football (the one with the round ball, not hand-egg), to snooker and biathlon (Go Ole Einar Bjorndalen!). After receiving two B.Sc degrees, in electrical engineering and in physics, from Tel Aviv University, Alon moved to Canada to pursue his dream of becoming a snowboard instructor. After three years teaching on the local mountains, Alon returned to academia and has recently completed his M.A.Sc in electrical engineering in August 2020.
Alon is currently a PhD student in sports analytics under the supervision of Prof. Ivan Bajic and Prof. Tom Loughin, and completed an internship with SportLogiq under the supervision of Prof. Oliver Schulte. Alon is also a member of SFU men’s basketball analytics group.
Eli holds a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, and a BSc. in Medicine and Biology from Tel Aviv University in Israel. He is the founder of EM-SportScience, and works as an Assistant Professor at Briar Cliff University.
Ken is currently a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Statistics. His research interests are in Bayesian statistics, sports analytics, and Biostatistics. Ken earned his MSc degree in Statistics in 2021 and his MSc project investigate the Bayesian implementation of the critical velocity model which is well-known in sports science. His presentation at the Sports Innovation Summit 2020 finished third in the Young Investigator Award competition. Ken is currently working on time-to-event analyses in soccer, and wastewater/Covid-19-related research.
Besides research, Ken is also a practitioner in sports, he plays parkour, street workout, and powerlifting. He won 2nd place in his category in the 2023 BC Powerlifting Association Winter Open.
