This page details the basic navigation of the Outlook 2016 for PC Application. Click the links below to learn more about the basic navigation of this application.

System Modules

Navigate between the different system modules (Mail, Calendar, People, Tasks) using the corresponding Icons in the bottom left hand corner of the application. 

Ribbon

The Home, Send/Receive, Folder, and View tabs at the top of the application display the Ribbon, which features different functionality and commands depending on the tab and the system module you are in.

The Home tab contains the most common commands, like creating a new email in the Mail module, or a new meeting in the Calendar module. The image below shows the Home tab for the Mail module.

The Send/Receive tab contains commands like ceating a Sending/Receiving mail for all folders, or cancelling a send/receive command. The image below shows the Send/Receive tab for the Mail module.

The Folder tab changes depending on which module you are in, and provides actions relating to your folders such as creating a new one and establishing folder permissions. The image below shows this tab in the Mail module.

The View tab also changes per module, providing you with options on how you would like items in that module displayed. In the Mail module it provides you with options such as reading pane settings and message display options.

File Tab

The File tab allows you to access more options and settings for customization of the desktop application, as well as establishing preferences such as Automatic Replies. From the Account Information menu displayed below, you can also click Options from the left-hand navigation pane to access more of these settings.
