PATHNAME('fileref')

'fileref': specifies the SAS fileref that was assigned to an external file or to a SAS data library. Under OpenVMS, fileref can also be an OpenVMS logical name that was assigned with a DCL DEFINE command. The value of fileref must be enclosed in single or double quotation marks.

Details

The PATHNAME function returns the physical name of an external file or SAS library, or blank if fileref or libref is invalid. The default length of the target variable in the DATA step is 200 characters.
