Version 8 Introduces Support for New Hosts

Version 8 introduces support for these host architectures:

SGI (Silicon Graphics) that runs UNIX. SGI was formerly included in the MIPS ABI architectural group, which SAS supported only in SAS Versions 6.10 and 6.11.
Intel-ABI hosts that run UNIX. SAS supported Intel-ABI only in SAS Versions 6.10 and 6.11. For Version 8, the Intel-ABI architectural group includes NCR MP/RAS, UnixWare, Sequent Dynix/Ptx, and Solaris for Intel.

As a consequence, CEDA (Cross Environment Data Access), which is a product that is bundled with SAS/CONNECT, supports these two additional values to the OUTREP= option of the LIBNAME statement and the DATA step:

MIPS_ABI: Represents an architectural group that includes HP_UX, RS_6000_AIX, and SOLARIS.
INTEL_ABI: Silicon Graphics (SGI) only, which was formerly included in MIPS ABI for SAS Release 6.11.

Introduced in Version 7, Windows 98 is also supported in Version 8. Windows 98 is included in the WINDOWS value.

Example:

data chem.grades (outrep=mips_abi);

The data set CHEM.GRADES is created in MIPS_ABI format.
