Atyrau University
The Mission and vision of Atyrau University (ASU) is "To become a leading state higher education institution in the West of Kazakhstan, providing high-quality training of highly qualified specialists for the economic and social development of the region and the country, including multilingual teaching staff, through effective environmental management and innovative education based on the close integration of education, science, business and industry in the region" (ASU, 2023). ASU’s Department of Innovative Education conducts research that provides contextual insights into supporting the academic needs of highly complex children living in the Western region of Kazakhstan.

Yarmouk University; Refugees, Displaced Persons, and Forced Migration Studies Centre
Yarmouk University has established Refugees, Displaced Persons, and Forced Migration Studies Centre (RDFMSC), in July 1997. The Centre is considered an extension of refugees and displaced Studies Program, which was founded at the university in July 1992. The Centre is mainly funded by YU and other contributions of regional and international organizations. The Deanship of Academic Research and Higher Studies also allocates an annual budget for research conducted by the Centre. YU strives to raise the awareness of refugee issues and to conduct studies, research, and projects and it holds conferences, symposiums, and workshops related to the issue of refugees. The centre aims to provide the values of tolerance and coexistence, spread them throughout the society, respect the diversity of multiple opinions, lean to moderate points of view, and avoid extremism. Raising awareness, hope, leniency, equity and credibility in all aspects of life are also crucial goals of the centre’s along with publishing the results of scientific research with optimum credibility and transparency.
YU is involved in several European funded projects including Erasmus+ CBHE and ICM, ENI CBC, Med, and H2020 (Previously, Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, ENPI CBC Med, and FP7).

- TVTE for female refugees and empowering them in job market.
- Psychological support for refugees (male and female) in the following sectors (Health, Education, Law, Economy, society, socioeconomic).
- Psychological support for vulnerable and disabled refugees.
- Entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial project support for female refugees and vulnerable groups.
- Research projects related to forecasting refugee future and policy research.
- Create a decision support system to be in service for the (RDFMSC), donors, and decision makers.
