GETTING INVOLVED
If you are interested in getting first-hand research experience in the Culture and Development lab with Dr. MacGillivray, there are several opportunities to which you can apply!
VOLUNTEER RESEARCH ASSISTANT
- Work with Dr. MacGillivray, graduate students, and other RAs on current projects through different research and administrative tasks and assignments
- Two-semester minimum commitment
- Paid research assistant work after one semester, funding permitted
PSYC 393 - RESEARCH ENGAGEMENT
- Participate in research activities designed to advance understanding of research methods and processes within psychology
- Variable units (1-3 units) translating to 3-9 hours within the lab
- Complete end-of-semester paper assignment reflecting upon activities completed throughout the term
- It is preferred to complete one semester of volunteering in the lab before applying for Research Engagement

PSYC 493/494/495 - DIRECTED STUDIES
- Engage with Dr. MacGillivray in a research topic/project of mutual interest
- Further develop interest or understanding from topics covered in previously taken courses
- Recommended Courses: PSYC 250, PSYC 352

HONOURS PROJECT
- Participate in original research over Fall and Spring semesters under Dr. MacGillivray's supervision
- Collect data or use archived data
- Present and defend project thesis upon completion
