Anthony Perl: What holiday travel turbulence illuminates about Canada's broader transportation landscape
Professor Anthony Perl spoke to Piya Chattopadhyay of CBC Radio's The Sunday Magazine about the holiday mayhem that many experienced as they tried to travel during December 2022. She asked Perl what these recent problems reveal about our broader transportation landscape and the problems that come with it. He emphasized that the difficult travel experience many Canadians had less than a month ago was not just a "once in a lifetime situation." Perl stated that we need to develop a transportation system that can deal with such events on a regular basis.
"We need a transportation policy for a climate emergency and a post-carbon future," he said.
Perl spoke about reimagining the systems we currently have, building a strategy, and then building a policy.
