Brian Chand joins SFU’s Department of Political Science
SFU Political Science welcomes Brian Chand as its new undergraduate advisor and recruiter. Formerly an admissions manager, admissions associate, and recruiter at SFU’s Beedie School of Business, Brian replaces Courtney Apps, who has left the university to start her own company.
In his new role, Brian is most looking forward to connecting with a whole new group of students.
“I like helping prospective students choose a program,” he says. “I enjoy providing positive support throughout their education experience so that they can reach their end goals.”
Brian recognizes that the pandemic has been challenging for students, and that he will initially be meeting them remotely.
“If at any point students feel overwhelmed, they shouldn’t feel embarrassed or reluctant to reach out to get assistance,” Brian says. “We are all here to listen and provide the appropriate guidance.”
Brian’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science (UBC), a graduate diploma in business administration (SFU), and a Master of Education (SFU). He describes his own experience as an SFU student as very positive.
“What I enjoyed about SFU was the family experience,” says Brian. “Everyone around me was supportive and motivated me to do my best.”
