MSc Student Javier Almonacid Wins 2019 SIAM Conference Poster Contest
October 20, 2019
The 2019 SIAM PNW Conference was hosted by Seattle University in Seattle Washington.
The poster contest had a total of twenty submissions, and three were given the "Best Poster Award".
MSc Math graduate student Javier Almonacid claimed one of those three winning spots. His poster titled, "High-order discretizations of a linear wave equation", touches on a portion of his thesis work. Javier notes: "Part of my thesis work consists in the numerical study of energy attractors in the solutions to a nonlocal linear wave equation, and what I presented in this poster constitutes the first step towards achieving this objective: developing a numerical method that approximates these solutions."
Congratulations Javier!
