About Our Group
The Kavanagh group is part of the Physics Department at Simon Fraser University. We are located in 4D Labs, TASC II, an interdisciplinary electronics materials laboratory. We aim to understand the properties of interfaces and nanostructures important to semiconductor materials and devices.
Our expertise covers a range of characterization techniques including: scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) with electron holography (EH), high resolution x-ray diffraction, Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) with ballistic electron emission microscopy (BEEM), and He ion microscopy (HIM). We have strong connections to the Chemistry Dept. and School of Engineering Science through collaborative projects and joint students.
