Dr. Katherine Reilly – Associate Professor, School of Communication, SFU
Katherine Reilly is Associate Professor in the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University. Broadly speaking, her work focuses on the role of communications in international relations and international development. Her specific areas of research interest include the impact of information and communications technologies on political and social processes in Latin America, the role of open data in development processes, and the political economy of media reform in Latin America. Most recently she has begun to study the sharing economy in Latin America. Her research for the Scholarly Communication Lab focuses on the field of communications in general. She is using online focus groups to study the logics driving twitter activity within specific clusters of communications scholars. The aim of this work is to inform Altmetrics indicators of research impact within the field of communications. In addition, she is lead author on a research framework for the Altmetrics research project.
