Bulgarian Association on Aging Student Section
Our organization is still in the early stages of development. At a recent meeting at the Sofia Faculty of Medicine eight new members who are medical students were welcomed. They join several psychology students from the New Bulgarian University and two social work students from the Bourgas Free University. Although interest in aging and elderly issues has been diminished in the past 15 years due to the difficult social and economic transition in the country, there is a renewed interest taking place. Beginning in April there will be a course on the fundamentals of gerontology. The Student Section will have regular monthly meetings in Sophia. The election of the Student Section president will be held in March 2005.
