Kim Fofonove Memorial Book Prize

Established by members of the Department, and by friends of former Geography student Kim Fofonove, this award is given annually to an outstanding Geography major or honours student from the graduating class.

This year's recipient, Akmal Aslam, is graduating with a BEnv in Global Environmental Systems, a minor in Geographic Information Science, and an Urban Studies Certificate.

Currently, he is working with the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship as a GIS Technician within their Surface Water team. He is involved in drought management by providing GIS Analysis and developing tools for field surveying. He intends to continue his career in GIS and is excited about the opportunities ahead.

Congratulations Akmal!
