Watershed Groups of the Georgia Basin - Stream Orders

The stream orders of the three major watershed groups are considered.

See graphs.

In the Fraser watershed group, stream orders of 3 and 4 are well represented while very small and very large stream orders are less well represented. (This is analogous to the distribution of the catchment areas for this group where intermediate basin sizes were well represented. The four stations with a stream order of 9 coincide with four of the five stations that have extremely large drainage areas.)

In the South Coast watershed group, stream orders of 4 and 5 are well represented while there are no stations with stream order 1 or with extremely large stream orders. (The plot of catchment areas also shows two classes being well represented with no extremely large or small classes.)

In the Vancouver Island watershed group, there is a spike of many stations in the stream order 4 class. (10 out of 13 of these stations coincide with the large spike in the 1x108 class in the catchment area plot.) Stream orders 3 to 5 are generally well represented. As with the catchment area plot, there are no stations in extremely large classes.
