Conceptual Outline of the Project

The purpose of this project is to select the best location for growing coffee trees in Africa.  Africa is known to produce fine coffee, however, where in Africa is a suitable place to plant coffee trees?
Coffee trees have three main species: arabica, liberica and robusta.  This project will mainly focus on arabica species because this species produce the gourmet coffee while the other two species produce the canned coffee which we buy from the supermarkets.
Each species have certain requirements in order for the tree to grow and flourish.  For the Arabica species, the plant needs plenty of water, sunlight and the elevation has to be just right in order for it to grow.  Soil plays an important role in the growth of these trees.  The soil must not be overly used nor can it be drenched with chemicals.  Hence, there are many factors that affect the location in which the coffee trees can grow in.  As well, if one were to find a suitable place to grow the trees, one would need a lot of help from workers to maintain and work on the trees.  Therefore, the area must have a certain number of people living there to work on these trees.

Here are the steps taken to find the most suitable place to plant arabica.
