Earthquake Vulnerability Assessment and Critical Infrastructure Inventory of Metro Vancouver
Objective
Our purpose for this project is to define and locate critical infrastructure and to determine the most vulnerable areas in the Metro Vancouver area. While our scenario is the “big one”, a M9.0 megathrust earthquake, this study is not a simulation because of the unpredictable nature of earthquakes. Rather, it is an assessment of what critical infrastructure is at risk of being damaged or destroyed, and will serve as a tool for various groups to make earthquake preparations.
