- Dr. Lear's research interests include the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.
- He has contributed in the development and evaluation of simple technology-based solutions for supporting patients with chronic diseases such as ischemic heart disease and heart failure.
- Dr.Lear's current reserch is funded by Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research.
- Currently Dr. Lear is researching on the Environmental determinants of obesity and related metabolic risk factors in urban and rural communities across Canada
- This study highlights how the 'built environment' proves to be risk factors influencing the prevalence of Obesity within Canada.
