EVENT: Geometry of Knowing: Super Cool Tuesdays
February 26, 2015
Here’s a quick picture of artist Jeneen Frei Njootli giving a performance on the instruments in her work Searching for Imagined Futures (2014), included in Geometry of Knowing Part 2, for a meeting of Super Cool Tuesdays. Super Cool Tuesdays is facilitated by the amazing Andrea Creamer, our onetime work study student and current Program Assistant at SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement. Here’s what Super Cool Tuesdays is all about:
Contemporary Arts 101 also known as “Super Cool Tuesdays” is a speaker series involving local and visiting artists in conversation with SFU students, faculty, and residents of the DTES. “Super Cool Tuesdays” takes place at the Interurban Gallery at the corner of Hastings and Carrall Streets, a few blocks from the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts. The series is also a partnership program with the Portland Hotel Society’s Drug Users Resource Centre. By fostering informal conversations about art and art practices, “Super Cool Tuesdays” addresses a range of social and political topics, while also responding to the interests and concerns of the members of the DTES community.
If you’re a member of the DTES community and would like to participate in Super Cool Tuesdays, email Andrea here.
