Biography
Ronnice is presently enrolled as a Master's student in Environmental Engineering at Taita Taveta University in Kenya, having previously obtained a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering from the same institution. She is a recipient of the CEMEREM scholarship under DAAD and the Study in Canada (SIC) Scholarship, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). Ronnice is also a co-founder and head of the research and innovation department for CESMECC, a startup non-governmental organization based in Kenya. Her responsibilities within CESMECC encompass conducting research and innovation initiatives pertaining to sustainable mining, environmental conservation, and climate change. Currently, Ronnice is affiliated with the ΔE+ Research Group at Simon Fraser University (SFU) as a visiting research scholar, courtesy of the SIC scholarship. Her research endeavors at SFU are oriented towards developing a Comprehensive CLEWs model, with a focus on its implications for sustainable climate-resilient development. Specifically, she will direct her attention to the CLEWs model applicable to Kenya, with a more focus on Taita Taveta County (TTC). Ronnice aspires to provide valuable insights to policymakers on matters pertaining to climate change and environmental concerns, thereby proposing mitigating strategies not only to TTC but also applicable to other counties within Kenya and on a global scale.
