Advising

Please contact the Undergraduate Student Advisor if you wish to declare a major, minor, or honours in English. Also, if you need help on any other undergraduate student matters, please reach out.  

Advising Hours: Appointments & Drop-Ins

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays: 9:30-11:30 AM and 2-5 PM

Please note: The Undergraduate Student Advisor is not available on Wednesdays, weekends, or statutory holidays.

During the first three weeks of classes, advising will be restricted to enrolment issues and no appointments are available. General program and plan advising will be available beginning in week four.

If you are seeking advice on an academic matter, you must bring a copy of your advising report. Access it via this four-step process:

  1. Visit goSFU.
  2. Go to Advising transcript.
  3. Sort by term and subject. Click Go.
  4. Print your transcript.

Student Responsibility

Each student is responsible for being aware of and fulfilling the requirements as set out in the SFU calendar; advisors are available to help students understand and follow the regulations. The Student Services Academic Advising office, located in the Maggie Benston Student Service Centre (3200), provides a range of academic services, including program advice, copies of transcripts, library cards, and registration information.

 

Resources

SFU Health & Counselling and Career Services are located in the Maggie Benston Student Service Centre (0300), and are available for personal counselling, vocational counselling, and as a career resource centre. This service helps students who are unsure about personal and career goals.
