Celebrating the opening of "Brother" at the VIFF
October 03, 2022
On October 1st, 2022, a Vancouver audience watched the film version of David Chariandy's novel, Brother at the Vancouver International Film Festival. The Vancouver Playhouse screening of director Clement Virgo's movie evoked powerful reactions from the audience who at times laughed, gasped, and shed tears. The film ended with a standing ovation followed by a Q & A with Virgo, Chariandy, and others involved in the production.
A reception at SFU's Djavad Mowafaghian World Art Centre followed the screening. SFU English students and faculty attended the event, as well as many others. Ebony Magnus, head of SFU's Belzberg Library planned this great event.
