Title: Beyond Grades: Unpacking Student Teacher Knowledge Development in Ungraded Teacher Education

Description: This research study explores student teachers' experiences, views and developing pedagogies of learning and teaching within an ungraded teacher education course utilizing multimodal portfolios. The goal of this paper is to understand how student teachers used the affordances of ungraded multimodal portfolios to engage with knowledge domains for social justice (Goodwin & Darity, 2019) and develop agentic practice in a social justice-oriented teacher education programs. This project has two objectives: (i) to understand the influence that ungraded course using multimodal portfolios have on student teachers’ developing social justice- oriented understandings (ii) to contribute to emergent literature on the experiences of student teachers when developing agency and taking risks using ungraded multimodal portfolios.
