Send us your best: Be it spicy mac cheese, bongo-bongo soup, a subtle sablé or a spectacular Sacher torte. This is a case of having many cooks in the kitchen to help put together the first Simon Fraser University cookbook.

The Best of SFU: Recipes for Life (with proceeds to the United Way) will feature foods from a lifetime (childhood, student days, "courting" cooking and the later years) but as the organizing committee notes, the title leaves room for future editions with other sub-plots.

The first recipe submitted came in the form of a short story by Tom Brown: How to Make Humus. Another sample recipe is available here in PDF format: Zoe McDougall's Hong Kong Chicken. August 7 update: More sample recipes and the draft table of contents are also available at this website.

You can now order cookbooks through Continuing Studies at Harbour Centre ($10 for advance orders before August 9; $12 after publication). Copies will also be available at the SFU Bookstore in the early fall.
