Request a Workshop
The SVSPO offers free, on-demand workshops and outreach sessions for all members of the SFU and FIC communities (students and employees).
We will work with you to:
- Adapt the session to meet the needs of your student, staff or faculty group
- Identify ways to embed the session in existing curricula or programs
- Determine the best delivery methods for your group
Please review the workshops listed below and complete the request form at the bottom of this page if you would like us to facilitate a session for your group. In addition to the standard sessions listed below, we can design customized sessions to achieve your desired learning outcomes.
Please note the following:
- We generally require four weeks' notice for a workshop or presentation.
- We will do our best to hold the session at your preferred time, but requests are subject to our education team members' availability.
- We require a minimum attendance of 10 people for workshops.
If you have questions or concerns about these requirements, please contact a member of our education team. We would be happy to work with you to find the best solution for your group.
Workshops for Undergraduate Students
Safer Campuses for Everyone: Sexual Violence Prevention and Support for the SFU Community
- Learn what constitutes sexual violence
- Get strategies to prevent sexual violence and support people who have been impacted by sexual violence
- Gain awareness of support resources that are available at SFU and in the community
This is a self-paced online learning module, available for free to all SFU students through Canvas, SFU's online learning platform. Estimated completion time is 60-75 minutes. Learn more and enroll in Safer Campuses for Everyone here.
Healthy Relationships and Boundaries
90 minutes
- Acquire strategies to set healthy personal and professional boundaries
- Learn to identify warning signs of unhealthy relationships
- Gain awareness of campus support services and how to access them
Cyberconsent and Digital Boundaries
90 minutes
- Define the concepts of cyberconsent and technology-facilitated sexual violence
- Identify strategies to set and maintain digital boundaries and to respect others' boundaries
- Gain awareness of relevant resources and support services at SFU and in the community
Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence
90 minutes
- Identify common myths about sexual violence and barriers to disclosure
- Learn how to respond supportively and appropriately to a disclosure of sexual violence
- Gain awareness of campus support services and how to access them
Bystander Interventions
90 minutes
- Learn how to identify potentially harmful situations
- Describe and apply tactics to intervene in situations and to show support safely and effectively
- Gain awareness of campus support services and how to access them
Practicing Consent
60 minutes
- Learn about the principles of affirmative consent
- Identify and critique the social contexts that contribute to sexual violence (rape culture)
- Acquire strategies for practicing consent in your daily life

Introduction to SFU's Revised Sexualized Violence Policy (GP 44)
30 minutes
- Get an overview of the key revisions to the policy
- Learn what constitutes sexualized violence at SFU
- Understand the jurisdictions of the policyand expectations for SFU community members
- Gain an awareness of SVSPO services and resources
Respectful Environment and Consent in Communication*
115-120 minutes
- Review SFU policies GP 44, GP 47 and GP 18 and how they support the community by outlining a culture of inclusive excellence at SFU
- Learn tactics for creating and maintaining consensual and respectful work and learning environments
- Learn about equity and barriers to equity, including implicit bias and strategies for individually and collectively interrupting implict bias
- Review resources and support services that are available to SFU students and employees who have been impacted by bullying, harassment, and/or sexual violence
