CCMS respects the global student call for a strike for Palestine occurring this Thursday, November 21, at universities across Turtle Island! We will still be holding the “Cultures of Belonging” with Dr. Renisa Mawani in conversation with Dr. Amyn Sajoo on the same day. In solidarity with this call, we have changed the venue to Room 3520 of Harbour Centre (same building) which requires no contract labour, catering, or staffing out of respect for the picket line. The event is instead generously hosted by the School of Communication space and will be supported by volunteers. The event itself will address subject matter relevant to the strike. See you there!
A brutal history of unbelonging has marked the reality in settler-colonial Canada for First Nations and those of Asian & Afro-Caribbean ancestry. How does this legacy shade genuinely equal citizenship?
